Transfer Station and Recycling Center – Reminders

The New Transfer Station and Recycling Facility located on Lagoon Lane just past the Water/Wastewater Treatment Facility is now open. The hours of operation are Tuesday 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday hours 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Thursday evenings from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.

One change will be that you will now see a ‘recycling station’ where you will be placing recyclables in their proper containers rather than dropping all off at a window. We ask that you please break down all cardboard boxes before depositing them in their proper container. This allows for more cardboard in the container before removal which keeps disposal costs to a minimum.

All users of the Howland facility need to have a transfer station sticker attached to their vehicle which are available at no charge at the town office. All household trash must be placed in Howland (blue) bags which can be purchased at the town office. Large and small sizes are available.

Please keep in mind that facility staff are on site to assist those in need of help however their primary function is the operation of the facility and to ensure all waste is being placed in their proper receptacles. Your cooperation in this is greatly appreciated!

Please also keep in mind that we’re still working on the new facility. We have temporary containers on site and this is also new to our staff so please be patient with us while we work towards a new and better facility for you.
