Public Hearing Monday May 24 at 6PM at The Old Tannery Park: There will be a Public Hearing on Monday May 24th  at 6PM at the Old Tannery Park. The purpose for this public hearing will be to hear questions and comments about the by-pass channel five year operational performance and to discuss the Land & Water Conservation Grant to expand the Old Tannery Park. The meeting we will also be discussing the future management of the by-pass. Andrew Goode who is the Vice President, US Operations Atlantic Salmon Federation will be there to discuss these issues and to answer questions about the future of the site.

Welcome to the Town of Howland!

The Town of Howland, located in Penobscot County, is located at the convergence of the Penobscot and Piscataquis Rivers.

The town is on the west bank of the Penobscot River at the confluence with the Piscataquis River. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 35.62 square miles (92.26 km2), of which, 34.92 square miles (90.44 km2) of it is land and 0.70 square miles (1.81 km2) is water.
