FEMA Region 1 presents a webinar on the topic of disaster preparedness for older adults.: FEMA Region 1 Preparedness Division is hosting a two-day Zoom webinar on the topic of disaster preparedness for older adults. Expert guest speakers and interactive sessions will help prepare the audience for disasters that are prevalent in the New England area. Older adults 55+, their families and caregivers, and agencies that serve and care for older adults, as well as individuals who work in emergency management both local, state, and federal are invited to attend, ask questions, and learn what they can do to mitigate the effects of unexpected disasters

The Town of Howland, located in Penobscot County, is located at the convergence of the Penobscot and Piscataquis Rivers.

The town is on the west bank of the Penobscot River at the confluence with the Piscataquis River. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 35.62 square miles (92.26 km2), of which, 34.92 square miles (90.44 km2) of it is land and 0.70 square miles (1.81 km2) is water.
