The Town of Howland has a position on the newly formed Fire District Board of Directors. The Central Maine Highlands Fire District #1 bylaws states that each town will appoint two Directors who volunteer their time representing their municipal organization on the CMHFD #1 Board of Directors.  The Alternate Director will serve a two-year term attending workshops and meetings when the other Director is unavailable. Both Directors will represent the Town of Howland Board of Selectmen’s interest in Fire & EMS service that the CMHFD #1 provides the region. Individuals who have an interest in becoming an alternate fire district director should contact a member of the Howland Board of Selectmen. If we should have several interested candidates, the Howland Board will choose the candidate who best fits that position.
