6TH ANNUAL BASS DERBY: Make plans to participate in our 6th annual bass derby right here in Howland Maine on July 27th. We have public boat launches on both the Penobscot and Piscataquis Rivers for anglers to access these two great bass fishing rivers. Come enjoy the day on one or both waterways where you will see eagles, geese, beavers and much more wildlife if you keep an eye on the shoreline. The Penobscot River is known for being one of the best bass fishing waterways on the east coast. With miles of river, you will not need to worry about someone finding your secret spot. If you do not fish, you can still purchase tickets for some great shore prizes. This year there are over $1,500 in Cash Prizes for fish caught in the Penobscot and Piscataquis Rivers and the following bodies of water Cold Stream Pond, South Branch Lake & Saponac Ponds. Derby Entry: $10.00 (includes shore prize entry) Anglers May Only Enter One Fish. Weigh In: Lot at the Howland Car Wash & Laundromat.
